Kalakalappu 2 Movie Review
A daft as a dash comedy that doesn’t look into intellectual essence, but when ‘Laughter’ alone is what all you need, no more second thoughts, just barge into the theatres playing ‘Kalakalappu 2’. Sundar C never compromises with what he wants nor does he attempt to eclipse his ritualistic formulae of commercial entertainers. In Kalakalappu 2, you don’t new or different from the erstwhile movies of this filmmaker. Of course, when you’re coming to theatres just to get yourselves treated with laughter riot, what else would bother you? It’s simple, take walk into theatres, sit back, munch in your favourite snacks, laugh out loud and come out with fun-faced gesture.
A plot that resembles much of its predecessor in the franchise, the story revolves around Jiiva who has owned a lodge in Varanasi and the lease period has already expired. Jai comes in search of his ancestral property to the same place and falls in love with Nikki Galrani, who is an officer at register office. Jiiva wants to get his younger sister settled with marriage and during matchmaking ceremony falls in love with gonna be bridegroom’s sister (Catherine Tresa). Just when things are going perfect, all of them face a threat from hilarious fraudulent chap (Mirchi Shiva).
Jiiva and Jai have completely surrendered themselves to Sundar C, where they don’t have much to flex their muscles or strain themselves. The comedy caper has them perform slapstick mannerisms. Catherine Tresa and Nikki Galrani offer a glamorous toast as it happens with heroines in Sundar C movies. This is definitely an escalation to all these four actors in their career though they have nothing colossal to perform; they remain as core of our attraction. Although Mirchi Shiva appears only in second half, he wins our attention with his one liner… With the film carrying double dozen lists of actors, who keep evoking humour, the film has its way to keep us all engrossed. Except for few lengthy sequences in the second half, especially the climax that looks elongated. Musical score by Hip Hop Aadhi is pretty appreciable and it has been colorfully captured by cinematographer UK Senthil.
Overall, Kalakalappu 2 stands out to be a perfect comedy caper, where logics doesn’t matter as Mirchi Shiva says by end of the film, “Anything can happen in a Sundar C film.” But entertainment is assured 100% without fail.
