Veteran filmmaker Mahendran Passed Away

Filmmaker Mahendran who was going through prolonged illness passed away despites a good treatment.

Born as Alexander, his oratory skills made the legendary MGR invite him to the film industry. He started his career writing story and dialogues following which he made his directorial debut through the movie “Mullum Malarum”, which is considered as one of the most celebrated rarest pearls of Tamil cinema.

His other movies like Uthiri Pookkal, Nenjathai Killaathey, Metti and Nandu got a good reception among the audiences.

In addition, Mahendran owns credits of escalating Tamil cinema to the next level. Having introduced many talented actors in the industry, he started playing character roles in the recent times. While he played negative role opposite Vijay in Theri, his recent performances like Seethakaathi and Petta were highly noticed.

Recently, he was admitted in Appolo hospital and even his son-Director John Mahendran haf recently tweeted asking everyone to pray for his dad’s health. However, Mahendran gave up his private battle and breathed his last this morning.
